For years physiotherapists, osteopaths and chiropractors (even your mum) has been telling you to sit up straight or you’ll end up with back pain, or neck pain or some other problem. It seemed to make sense, sit at a computer for too long with rounded shoulders and you get a sore neck. The problem is – that’s not the way it works. This session takes a deep dive into some of the recent scientific evidence around the links (or lack of) between posture and pain, between pain and injury, workstation setup, standing desks, the perils of sitting too much, and gives real, practical advice on what to do if you get sore from work.
Ben Kewish has been a physiotherapist since 2001 and has given thousands of people postural advice (which on reflection was mostly wrong!). He became the Director and Principal of Hills Physiotherapy in 2012, and has since grown the business into the premiere Allied Health option in Melbourne’s outer South East, with practices in Emerald, Rowville, Knoxfield and now Caribbean Park (inside Pinnacle Gym). He is passionate about educating the public about the science around pain and health, has a background in Sports Physiotherapy and Persistent Pain management, and has developed the Occupational Health arm of Hills Physiotherapy over the last 4-5 years.
We look forward to seeing you there!
